Connemara

One of Ireland's most unique landscapes and probably the best hidden treasure for many years is the area west of Galway City known as Connemara.

Beginning at the majestic Galway Cathedral it stretches west to Clifden and North to Leenane. This area encapsulates every geographical feature in rural Ireland. It is sheltered to the east by the famous Twelve Pins mountain range from where the avid climber can view the many lakes, rivers and even the very unique horse shoe lakes in the Leenane Valley, or one can drive, swim, scuba dive, fish, sail, pony-trek or golf around the three hundred miles of rugged, unpolluted Connemara coastline.

The beaches of Connemara are the finest and most beautiful to be found anywhere in Ireland, ranging from the pebble beaches in Renvyle to the coral beaches of Ballyconnelly to the European award winning beaches of Roundstone.

All amenities are available in most areas and most are developed to the highest standard, meeting tourist board and environmental regulations.
