Connemara is famed on a global basis for its deep-sea angling. An astonishing twenty-seven varieties of fish have been caught in one days fishing off the Connemara coast. Fresh water fishing along the many rivers and lakes of Connemara is probably one of the most relaxing and enjoyable past times where the keen angler is nearly always assured a fine days catch of salmon, trout or fish of the season.

Pony-Trekking:
Pony-Trekking is unique in the area in that one can trek over mountain, beach and bog land in one trail. All centres cater for all levels of rider and a ride on the traditional Connemara pony in either Cleggan Riding School - (095) 44746, where a trek across Omey Beach and Island is highly recommended or “The Point” trekking centre - (095) 23685 located in Ballyconnelly, with its breathtaking scenery it too has plenty to offer the enthusiastic pony trekker.

Golfing:
One of the biggest attractions for the discerning visitor to Connemara today is its championship 27-hole golf links. Though only built twenty five years ago, Connemara Golf Course rated 9th in Europe by the experts and has played host to the finest Professional golfers in the world who describe it as the best they’ve played on and very challenging.
